POSITION: McKenzie Scott PC seeks a litigation paralegal with state and federal experience who is interested in joining a dedicated team of justice-seekers.
JOB DESCRIPTION: Our mid-level paralegal will collaborate on civil rights and personal injury cases under the supervision of a more senior litigation paralegal. An ideal candidate will have experience preparing pleadings and filing in state and federal courts; preparing initial drafts of discovery requests, pleadings, and requests/subpoenas for medical records; calendaring discovery deadlines per state and federal court rules; assisting with trial support; and communicating with clients, experts and court personnel. We are a small law firm committed to providing excellent service to our clients and enabling access to justice to traditionally underserved communities. It is essential that all team members work collaboratively to fulfill these goals.
This is primarily a remote position but we come together regularly as a team to improve systems, move cases forward, and brainstorm. If the team is in trial, our litigation paralegals will be supporting in the courtroom, so the ability to travel within California and beyond is essential.
QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS: Applicants should be paralegals as defined by Cal. Bus. & Prof. Code § 6450. Two to five years’ experience is preferred but all candidates will be considered.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: McKenzie Scott PC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package including health, dental, and vision plans, and SEPIRA retirement contributions proportionate to salary.
HOW TO APPLY: Please submit your name and information in the fields above and indicate that you are interested in the paralegal position. We will reach out to you with additional information on how to apply!
NONDISCRIMINATION STATEMENT: McKenzie Scott PC is an equal opportunity employer. Selection of candidates will be based solely on merit without regard to race, color, religion, religious creed (including religious dress and religious grooming), sex (including pregnancy, perceived pregnancy, childbirth, breastfeeding, or related medical conditions), gender, gender identity (including transgender identity and transitioning), gender expression and sex stereotyping, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, physical or mental disability, legally protected medical condition or information (including genetic information), family care or medical leave status, military caregiver status, military status, veteran status, marital status, domestic partner status, sexual orientation, status as a victim of domestic violence, sexual assault or stalking, enrollment in a public assistance program, engaging in protected communications regarding employee wages, requesting a reasonable accommodation on the basis of disability or bona fide religious belief or practice, or any other basis protected by local, state, or federal laws.
